Pale Blue Auto-Mobile
You need no ticket to make a place for yourself here where humor, black and otherwise, comes to you from the stage where the human comedy itself is being played, its performance trumping the things dark and tragic and found in the world of literature.

"gasbag citadel of Eggers-ville"

An amazing phrase that is part of a review of a Houellebecq book on H.P. Lovecraft at http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/2105/

Latchkey Lit

That's a term I just coined for the lit produced by and for the kids of 70's and 80's divorce. (If The Believer's Julavits can make up the word "snark" -- which for the record, I dislike for numerous reasons -- I can certainly come up with one THAT DOESN'T MEAN SOMETHING ELSE TO BEGIN WITH. (See Lewis Carroll, et al.))

More on the practitioners of the genre later.

And for any who arrived at this blog from the Underground Literary Alliance site, or King Wenclas's Demi-Puppets blog, please remember that this entry is dated. Mainstream literati who ignore and don't read (Ahem!) any ULA related stuff please note that I'll be watching -- well, Googling actually -- to see if any clever scribes are using the term as their own.

And to pre-answer a likely question: yes I do think it's worth using. (You may call it arrogance; I think its self-confidence, something writers today need in great quantity, merely to survive.)

So if you use the term, please give credit -- or I'll send out the Plagiarism Police.
